Chapter 1
Anna Brown stared at the divorce papers in front of her, already signed by her husband.
She looked out the window, her vision blurred by tears.
Justin Salvador stood there in the afternoon sun, a figure as cold and perfect as a stone sculpture, exuding an oppressive air.
“I’ve signed the papers,” Justin said without turning to look at her.
“You should sign them too so we can finalize the divorce before Rose comes home.
His hands were behind his back as he continued, “Since we have a prenuptial agreement, there won’t be any issues with the property division.
But as compensation, I’ll give you an additional $20 million and the villa in the western suburbs.
After all, I can’t explain to Grandpa if you leave with nothing.
Anna was taken aback.
“Does Grandpa know you want to divorce me?” she asked, her voice shaky.
“Grandpa’s opinion doesn’t matter,” Justin replied coldly.
Anna’s body trembled, and she grasped the edge of the table to steady herself.
Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded, “Justin, can we please stay married?”
Finally, Justin turned around, his gaze unreadable.
His handsome face was still striking, despite the coldness in his eyes.
“Why?” he asked, his voice distant.
“Because I love you,” Anna whispered, her eyes red and tear-filled.
“I love you, Justin.
I still want to be your wife, even if you don’t feel the same.
“I’ve had enough, Anna.
A marriage without love is torture for me.
Justin waved her off, uninterested in hearing her further.
“Our marriage was a mistake from the start.
You knew I was only fighting with Grandpa then.
You knew I liked Rose, but I couldn’t be with her for certain reasons.
She’s coming back from Meridan soon, and I plan to marry her.
Our three-year contract is up, so it’s time for you to leave.
Anna lowered her head, large tears falling onto the table.
She quickly wiped them away, but Justin noticed and said nothing.
His phone rang just then, and when he saw the caller ID, his expression softened.
He answered it immediately.
“Rose, have you boarded the plane yet?” he asked, his voice gentle.
“I’m already at Savrow Airport,” Rosalind replied cheerfully.
“What? I thought you were arriving tonight?”
“I wanted to surprise you!”
“Wait for me, Rose.
I’ll pick you up now,” Justin said before hurrying out of the room.
As the door slammed shut behind him, Anna felt heartbroken and abandoned.
She had given everything for the Salvadors, for Justin.
Yet, to him, their marriage was nothing but a prison sentence, something he couldn’t wait to end so he could marry his childhood sweetheart, Rosalind Gold.
Crushed, Anna realized there was nothing she could do to change Justin’s heart.
She took a deep breath, forced a bitter smile, and shook her head.
Her tears smeared Justin’s signature on the divorce papers.
Later that evening, Justin returned with Rosalind, a picture of triumph.
He, the second son of the wealthy Salvador family, carried Rosalind into Tideview Manor in bridal style, drawing everyone’s attention.
“Justin, we’re not divorced yet.
We shouldn’t be so intimate in front of Anna,” Rosalind said softly, her hand resting on his chest.
“It doesn’t matter,” Justin replied coldly.
“So what if she sees us? I don’t love her.
She’s only my wife in name, so she should know her place.
The Salvador family gathered around Rosalind, greeting her warmly, while Anna quietly set the.
